Kelkoo, originally a French company, was acquired by Yahoo for 575 million dollars in 2004. In 2009, Evren worked at the Kelkoo Amsterdam office as a product manager, responsible for ensuring the right products were listed in the correct categories for his other role later as Google Search specialist. During this time, they launched the Phoenix project, which completely revamped the site.

In 2011, Evren took over all Search responsibilities for NL and BE.
